Letter from the President:

New Parade Participant Entry Fee Preserves the Parade

For 90 years the Evanston Fourth of July Association has planned and paid for our unique Celebration. As we face today’s tough economic climate, I looked into our archives to learn what Celebration Mangers have done in the past facing tough times and shrinking budgets.

I was surprised to learn that during the depression the Evanston parade was suspended. To prevent such drastic measures and to preserve the parade we love, our 2009 Board of Trustees approved the Parade Participant Entry Fee.

We are asking all of you to help us pay for the infrastructure that keeps the kids marching and the crowd safe on the 4th.

  • Business, For-Profit, and Political Entries - $100
  • Community Group or Non-Profit Organization - $75
  • City of Evanston Elected Officials - $50

Groups who feel that they cannot participate in this year’s parade due to the new fees should contact us about partial and full fee scholarships that are being offered based on the generous donations of some of our sponsors.

Please mail in your payment by check made out to the Evanston Fourth of July Association along with your parade application, or pay by credit card on our web site.

Even though we face tough times, we have a chance to preserve our parade tradition without missing a step down Central Street.

See You on the Fourth,

Joan Ducayet
2011 President
